Working closely with clients, developing visions into form and adapting designs along the way to suit evolving needs.
Inspired by Nature
Raised in a hand-built bush pole and mudbrick home of New South Wales, constructed by his parents in the early 1970s, Jake developed an early appreciation for non-conventional angles, natural elements, and organic design. This foundation continues to inform his work, now fused with contemporary architectural thinking.
Living on a 100-acre native forested propperty near Bermagui, Jake Smith works in and around the Bega Valley. Having worked from the Far South Coast NSW to Sydney’s North Shore, Northern Rivers NSW, and the Gold Coast, Jake brings decades of experience and a refined skill set. Influenced by Japanese and Scandinavian design principles and aesthetics, his projects often incorporate calm, balance, natural light, and handcrafted simplicity.
Driven by perfection
With a deep appreciation and understanding for natural materials, Jake specialises in working with solid timbers and handcrafted details. His furniture and cabinetry showcase high-grade craftsmanship, featuring precision joinery such as friction joints and screw-free dowelled housing systems that create clean, minimal, and enduring forms. Finished pieces are available by commission, with select items offered for direct purchase upon enquiry.
Above all, Jake is known for his precision, attention to detail, and collaborative process, helping clients to create homes that feel considered, functional, and deeply personal.
